All my life I have been fascinated how music fits into daily life. This week on the SORM we’ll examine four recent projects which place roots music into perspective. We’ll hear music released to accompany Peter Guralnick’s fascinating new book “Sam Phillips-The Man who invented Rock “n” Roll, Mississippi fiddle tunes and songs from the 1930’s the recording by Harry Bolick that is great accompaniment to his book of same name, and “This Ain’t No Mouse music” the soundtrack to the documentary about Arhoolie Records and founder Chris Strachwitz. We’ll also listen two 3 tunes from the new County 4 CD set Legends of Old-Time Music We and open the program with a book of songs, rhymes and stories recalled by Jean Ritchie from her childhood.
