Talented bluegrass and traditional string outfit Little Rabbit officially launch their new CD Watching Over Joan this coming Thursday 4 February at the Spotted Mallard in Brunswick, Melbourne.
Little Rabbit is Pete Fidler (dobro, mandolin, vocals), Kat Mear (fiddle, banjo, vocals) and
Kimberley Wheeler (upright bass, vocals) and their work features three lead singers, fancy finger work and sweet harmonies.
The debut record Watching Over Joan contains thirteen captivating tracks, all originals steeped in bluegrass and old time music but with a very modern feel and sound.
Pete Fidler is one of Australia’s pre-eminent dobro players and the other band members are highly talented players and singers. Together, the individual members of Little Rabbit have been involved with a diverse number of bands – Uncle Bill, Bluestone Junction, Cash Savage & the Last Drinks, Bill Jackson, Innocent Bystanders, and are either regular or occasional players with Mustered Courage, bluegrass giant Peter Rowan, Freya Hollick, Damien Howard and with Pete Denahy on his recent double Golden Guitar winning album.
I’ve seen the band live and I’ve heard Watching Over Joan many times now. I’ve liked everything I’ve seen and heard and will be looking forward to the official album launch – you can get tickets here.
