Fueled by the emotional struggle of coping with family members affected by mental illness, Ana Egge was compelled to write the 12-song album, Bad Blood, produced by Steve Earle. With Earle’s driving production and Egge’s lilting melodies, ”Bad Blood” conveys compassion and hope for redemption, colored by the dark undercurrent of the subject matter. Obvious in this album, her struggles have been channeled into masterful folk music, and Ana has been proclaimed ”The Nina Simone of folk” (by Lucinda Williams).
