USA Music Tour 2015 Day 3
Plymouth California
Today was nothing much other than an A-to-B day.
We needed to get from San Diego to Plymouth, about an hour east of Sacramento in Amador County. There, were Jenny’s sister Bronwyn and her husband David and their delightful vineyard. It was 530 miles or 850 kilometres which would make it just over an 8 hour drive. No time for fancy pantsin’, as they say.
By a bit after 7am, we had grabbed some easily-transportable hotel breakfast items, packed the car and set the GPS, and on our way.
The minimum of stops ensued as we journeyed north-west, Huntington for morning coffee and brunch, just off Bakersfield for gas and Reedley for coffee and late lunch.
Companion Jim had two stints at the wheel, his first on US soil, on the opposite side of the road and acquitted himself commendably.
We arrived in Plymouth just before 6 pm to be greeted with open arms and pre-dinner refreshments. Sitting on the back deck overlooking the burgeoning vines as the balmy dusk turned to star-gazing was the type of moment we will remember for quite a time.
