Spotlight On Americanafest 2015 # 11
Dave Rawlings Machine Announces New Album
Nashville Obsolete
To Be Released On September 18 2015 via Acony Records\Redeye Worldwide
I’ve been thinking a lot about exceptional Americana duo Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings over the past couple of weeks. First, about the exciting opportunity for me to see the talented songwriter and guitar wiz pair live for the first time as they feature on a wonderful bill at the Ascend Amphitheatre during Americanafest 2015 in Nashville.
Second, just announced today, Rawlings and Welch will perform and are to be Honored with a Prestigious Lifetime Achievement in Songwriting Award by the Americana Music Association at the Americana Honors and Awards Show at the historic Ryman Auditorium during that same week.
Now, Dave Rawlings Machine is to release a new album, during the same, aforementioned week. Nashville Obsolete (on Acony Records) will be the highly anticipated second album from Dave Rawlings Machine and will be the seventh studio release on which Welch and Rawlings have collaborated together in their acclaimed two-decade long creative partnership, the last one being Welch’s Grammy-nominated The Harrow and the Harvest (2011).
Recorded on analog tape at Woodland Sound Studios in Nashville, TN, Nashville Obsolete will feature seven original compositions written by this pair. Produced by Rawlings, Nashville Obsolete will feature Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers) on bass, Willie Watson on vocals and guitar and guest appearances from Brittany Haas (fiddle) and Jordan Tice (mandolin).
Nashville Obsolete is available for pre-order on iTunes now ahead of its September 18th release date here: iTunes Preorder.
