Perch Creek – “Mama Sings” – Single and Launch Tour

Perch Creek’s last release (2014) was the highly impressive Jumping On A HighWire.  Comprising four siblings and one partner, the band (previously known as The Perch Creek Family Jugband) spent the first half of 2015 away from its busy touring schedule to focus on writing.

Now we have the first taste of their upcoming third album, with the single “Mama Sings” released last month and which may well herald a revitalised sound to go with the shortened band name.  Have a listen – it’s got a heavy subject, serious backbeat and eerie chorus, a good combination:

The single was produced by Greg J Walker (Machine Translations, Paul Kelly, CW Stoneking) and recorded at his converted bakery studio in Jumbunna, Victoria.

Fresh from touring Canada this July (appearing at major festivals including Vancouver Folk Festival, Winnipeg Folk Festival and Hillside Festival along with their own headline shows), Perch Creek will be returning to home soils this September for the “Mama Sings” single launch tour – their only Australian tour of 2015.  Across a few select shows, the Mama Sings tour will see the band premiere songs from the forthcoming album, a good opportunity to inspect the band’s new musical direction.
