The wonderful David Cronenberg’s Wife (aka DCW) are back with a new EP, The Octoberman Sequence, which is due out via Blang Records tomorrow (digitally) and on the 2nd November on limited 12″ vinyl.
Key players in the UK’s antifolk scene in the late 2000s, we loved them for their black humour, sense of the macabre and twisted, often enjoyably bitter lyrics. Theirs was a perfect mix of oddball folk, punk sneer, crack-house discordance and krautrock grooves, and it is not too much of a stretch to trace their influence on bands like Fat White Family, Goat Girl and Phobophobes.
The new five track EP consists of live stalwart Rules and previously unrecorded slice-of-life vignettes such as You Should See and The Dude of Love.
It has been six years since we last posted about DCW. Welcome back boys!
