Todmorden Americana Festival
The first ever Todmorden Americana Festival takes place on Saturday 4th July (very suitable!) at The Todmorden Unitarian Church, Honey Hole Road, Todmorden, West Yorkshire OL15 6LE. Doors open 2pm noon and the event finishes 10pm. Admission is only £5 on the door for the whole event!
We have brought together a selection of the top local acts (plus some from further afield!) playing country and blues influenced music, with a distinct emphasis on New Country. Our headlining acts, Quiet Loner, Garron Frith and Chuck Lemonds, are nationally renowned in their fields, but with the standard of music available throughout the day we strongly recommend that you take in as many of the acts as possible, especially as it’s all for only a fiver!
Food and drink will be available to purchase from the wonderful Incredible Edible Todmorden, to make your day even more enjoyable.
Programme of events

2.20pm Marilyn Hinson and Gabe Amick
Country, swing and blues played with style and panache, the ideal act to get you in the mood for the festival.
3.20pm Chris Layhe

This band are best described as a modern day Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – melodious songs, sweet harmonies and raggedly glorious lead guitar.http://www.reverbnation.com/homegrownjones
5.20pm Picnic Area
South Manchester’s finest play alt country with attitude, and their Bill Leader-produced album “You know you want it!” has received a number of glowing reviews, including an 8 out of 10 from Americana UK. www.reverbnation.com/picnicarea Their new album “Classics” may be out by the time of the festival! 7.20pm Chuck LeMonds
Country-soul genius Chuck Lemonds was born in St Louis but now bases himself in Graz, Austria. After a string of excellent albums he released “The rivers call”, named as one of Americana UK’s albums of the year in 2013. Listen to the tracks and you’ll see why!http://www.reverbnation.com/chucklemonds
8.20pm Garron Frith
Critically acclaimed local songwriter responsible for some heartbreakingly beautiful songs. As the Daily Express (no less!) writes, of his album “Away from the bright lights”: ‘ If someone of the calibre of Ryan Adams or Josh Ritter was delivering this, everyone would be gushing about songs like "Not the Man", "The Remedy" and "Good Thing"’. His new album “Skiffler” is out this summer…http://www.garronfrith.co.uk/
9.20pm Quiet Loner
Quiet Loner aka Matt Hill is one of the best loved figures on Britain’s new country scene, and his songs of infidelity, murder, suicide, as well as social comment transcend the limitations of the genre. His latest release, ”Greedy magicians”, a live album of protest songs, has been described by No Depression magazine as “Possibly the most important record of the year”. He followed this up with a performance at the Glastonbury Festival’s protest stage, at the invitation of Billy Bragg!http://quietloneruk.wordpress.com/
